How-to Books Ever Written
Somebody once said there are more book titles beginning with the words
"how to" than with anything else. Perhaps that's because
we all want to learn to do things better.I've spent hours combing
library shelves for how-to titles. (I've also spent several minutes
combing my hair, but that's another story.)What follows is a completely
subjective list of outstanding books that teach us how to improve
ourselves. Warning: Some of these titles do NOT begin with the words
"how to."1. "How to Win Friends and Influence People"
by Dale Carnegie ? written in 1936 ? offers great tips on "six
ways of making people like you," "12 ways of winnin...(related:

Ghost In Cornwall
This land is my memories. For two thousand years this valley has been
mine alone.I know every rock, every stream and every tree. I know
the forces that shape this land and the people who inhabit it.A billion
years ago this land was a migratory trail for the animals of Western
Europe. They roamed freely across the huge land of one continent.
Millennia passed as the rivers washed silt to the ocean and the sun
raised rain to the sky. At that time the mass of Eurasia was joined.
The tectonic plates shifted and islands formed, raising proud, green
peninsulas on green water, thrust out to the ocean. Long before my
time the forces of nature battled along the coasts of Western Europe.
From the Southwest, the Gulf Stream warmed and opened the land with
summer heat. From the north, ice raged and crac...(related: )

Albany,
Ny Family History Reference Now Available Thanks To Author Joseph
Yakel
"Personal research references, especially for families who once lived
in the South End area of Albany, are very difficult to come by", said
Yakel. "Lower Albany had a very strong mix of European immigrants,
especially Germans, throughout the 19th century. These were spirited,
hard working people, that helped to build the city's distinction through
their values and all kinds of family run businesses", he explained.
"Unfortunately, unlike other parts of the city, such as the Central
Avenue thoroughfare and the downtown district of Pearl Street, documentation
relative to much of the South End, especially around the Second Avenue
area, is far and few between."He added, "Knowing that others have
experienced the same frustration I have felt while trying to find
useful research information about the lower Albany area an...(related:

Amapola
- Book Review
Alan Heywood writes a stimulating, though sometimes improbable, adventure
novel in Amapola. What I mean by this is that the characters are seemingly
very lucky or were simply at the right place, at the right time. Yet,
other scenes are somewhat reminiscent of a James Bond movie. I liked
the humor Alan dabbled throughout the novel and admired the strong
female characters. This book certainly has a heavy slant towards the
importance of friendships and a pro-Canada theme ? which I loved.George
Magee, a retired Major, was never able to forget Sakai, a Costa-Ric...(related:

Holy Grail Discovery
In a profound and provocative work of scholarly detection, best-selling
UK author Philip Gardiner shakes the foundations of modern belief
by at last revealing the true origins of The Holy Grail, Elixir of
Life and Philosopher's Stone. Shrouded in mystery, these highly enigmatic
symbols have long been revered and The Serpent Grail proves, without
doubt, that all three are inextricably linked, originating from the
same ancient source. For many of us, these three my...(related: )

You Using Both Sides Of The Googlecoin?
By now most of you realise that Google
can give our websites the ability to appear within their results pages
using a Pay Per Click model (PPC).
This is called Google Adwords
Hopefully, you will also be aware that
that Google offers
website owners the ability to display these PPC results on
their own websites.
For this privilege, Google will pay the
website owner a
share of the PPC revenue earnt from any click throughs on
the results displayed on their website.
This is called Google Adsense
So there you have both sides of the Google
coin.
On one side, the ability to drive low
cost targeted traffic
and on the other side, the ability to generate revenue from
your existing traffic.
You'd think that was the end of it but
really it is only the
beginning.

Arturo El
Rey - Book Review
This large (about 378 pages), fantasy-adventure novel should give
best selling authors like Stephen King heavy competition. Fantastically
interwoven with elements of King Arthur's realm, including a little
Arthurian romance, Arturo el Rey will keep the reader captivated. The
main character, Art Reyes, escapes gang life and joins the Marines
? but when terrorists release the devastating plague, there was no
government left to for him to serve. Survival of mankind is tentative
at best, due to the drugged-up gangs of angry, distraught people attacking
defenseless plague survivors. Brutality and recklessness have reduced
the number of women, preserved food is dwindling, fuel is sparse while
life-saving and pain-killing drugs are being consumed by stressed
out survivors at an alar...(related: )

Beyond Bodybuilding: Stranger In A
Strange Land -- A Book Review
When America's foremost literary critic, Harold Bloom, professor emeritus
at Yale was asked to define literary greatness, he did so as follows,"I
have tried to confront greatness directly: to ask what makes the author
and the works canonical. The answer, more often than not, turned out
to be strangeness, a mode of originality that either cannot be assimilated,
or that so assimilates us that we cease to see it as strange. Walter
Pater defined Romanticism as adding strangeness to beauty?when you
read a canonical work for the first time you encounter a stranger,
an uncanny startlement rather than a fulfillment of expectation. {The
great works} have in common their uncaniness, their ability to make
you feel strange at home."I have been at home in the strange,
odd world of bodybuilding for...(related: )
Blues Clues For Success - Achievemax®

Blue's Clues for Success: The 8 Secrets Behind A Phenomenal Business
by Diane TracyIn a previous book review, I warned readers not to judge
a book by its cover. I feel compelled to once again issue that warning. When
you first spot this bold blue cover, you see the name of a popular
children's cable TV show accompanied by the blank stare of an animated
puppy who appears to be in search of the nearest fire hydrant. That's
two good reasons for me to question the position of this particular
book in the business section of my favorite book store and to keep
browsing for something of more substance. However, I strive to walk
my talk, when possible, so I delved a little deeper. In addition,
I must admit that I did recognize both the name...(related: )

Excerpt: Give Me A Home Where The Dairy Cows Roam
When I reached the top of the driveway after getting off the school
bus one April afternoon, I couldn't help but wonder why Dad was standing
on the stepladder next to the tractor.I had never seen my father use
a stepladder to fix a tractor. He didn't have to climb on anything
to reach the engine. I also knew he wasn't filling the tractor with
gasoline. The 460 Farmall was too far away from the gas barrel underneath
the silver maple tree by the garage, so the hose wouldn't reach that
far."What's Dad doing Needles?" I asked. Our dog, Needles, had come
to meet me, his tail going in circles. Needles was a Cocker-Spaniel
